After reading a news article from "PMS" NBC, I suppose I should feel fortunate to only be paying $3.40 a gallon for gasoline. After all, that same gallon, according to these numb-skulls cost folks in the UK $6.02 (USD)!....HUH?
I've never claimed to be real bright, but I have to take issue with this new math!
Folks in the UK are paying around 3 GPB for gasoline. We're the ones that would paying $6.02 USD if we were buying our fuel in the UK! Why? Because the US Dollar isn't worth the ink that it takes to print it! I took a look through the London Times Classifieds and found that jobs in the US that pay around $25K to $30K USD bring about 25k to 35k GPB in the UK. They sell gas by the liter and at the time of the "PMS" NBC report, it was running about 88 pence a liter or 3.01 GPB a gallon. If wages are numerically parallel it would suggest that the price of oil isn't going up...the value of the United States Dollar IS GOING DOWN! The cost comparison for fuel between the US and the UK would be acceptable if we used British Pounds or the folks in the UK used US Dollars...but they don't. They use sterling silver backed British Pounds!!
The Central Banks have got to love these types of stories. This propaganda is used to make the folks in the U.S. feel better about their situation. I can just see Uncle George and Aunt Martha sitting around the dinner table discussing this.
"Jeez, Martha, those Brits have it rough. Can you imagine paying $6 a gallon for gas...it would put us out of business." Aunt Martha may be a little more versed in economics than George but, out of respect, she probably wouldn't point out that the British Pound Sterling is actually worth more than the US Dollar and therefore it doesn't cost the Brits more, it would cost us folks in the US more!
